Caile started dancing when she was 6 or 7 years old. She was not sure of what dance was until her mom put her in lessons. Today, she teaches dance and lives in Chicago. We asked her about her cool job and why she became a dancer.
What inspired you to become a dancer and why?
I saw a performer whose name is Dytto on YouTube. In the video, she performed at the World of Dance, and she had this crazy solo. I fell in love with dance, and since then I would always follow YouTube videos or dance videos or TV shows. Anything that had dancing. I was completely obsessed. I just love how dancers are able to become the music they are dancing to.
What is a funny story from dancing that happened to you?
So I went to an intensive. I didn’t realize it was an 8-hour class! I found stinky pair of shoes on Amazon and I danced the whole eight hours, only to find out that I was actually in the wrong classroom! I did all that craziness for nothing, basically, because I was in the wrong room.
Why do you like to dance?
I love the community. It really is intellectual. It’s artistic. It’s physical. Honestly, it’s like it’s “full.” It’s a well-rounded art form, and that’s why I love doing it so much.
Where is your dream place to dance and why?
Oh, I would love to dance on tour with a huge artist like Beyoncé or Rihanna. Just to dance on tour with them and travel around the country and maybe go to other countries with them. This would be, like, the dream job for me.
What is your favorite dance type right now and why?
My favorite dance style right now is hip-hop. I’ve been training a lot in hip-hop. I am trying to get more into the aggressiveness of it. I just kind of like the more full-out feeling that it gives me.
If you could do anything other than dance what would it be?
Anything? A professional musician because it is artistic.
